What is India’s intermediate Range Ballistic Missile ?

The Agni missile is a family of medium to intercontinental range ballistic missiles developed by India, named after one of the five elements of nature.

An intermediate-range ballistic missile (IRBM) is a ballistic missile with a range of 3,000–5,500 km (1,864–3,418 miles), between a medium-range ballistic missile (MRBM) and an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM).

India have these ICBMS

  • Agni-V : 2012, Road and Rail mobile ICBM, silo-based, 5,500 – 8,000 km.
  • Agni-VI : 2017, Road and Rail mobile ICBM,silo-based, 10,000 – 12,000 km MIRV, up to 10.[12]
  • Surya missile : Intercontinental-RN, surface-based, solid and liquid propellant ballistic missile with MIRV capability. Operational Range between 12,000 and 16,000 kilometers
