Under 42nd Amendment, Fundamental duties were added in the constitution of India

  • New Part IVA containing article 51A was added to provide lists of fundamental duties of citizens.
  • The 42nd Amendment of Indian Constitution is most comprehensive amendment to the Constitution and carried out major changes. It is also known as “mini constitution”.
  • The 42nd amendment to Constitution of India, officially known as The Constitution (Forty-second amendment) Act, 1976, was enacted during the Emergency (25 June 1975 – 21 March 1977) by the Indian National Congress government headed by Indira Gandhi.
